it's a damn show, if they wanted the end of games to be faster they would be. instead they have everyone sitting around for five minutes while the refs are looking at test tubes and doing math equations like they don't already know what the call is. if they did it faster then next time that foul happens it would have to be cut and dry, thus they gotta make it look like a tough decision. i be sitting here like "huh i bet the call ends up being whatever makes the game more exciting regardless of whether it's right," it's all manufactured suspense

Superstars getting calls for things that new players wouldnt is the most disconnected thing I see with NBA officials. There's literally 2 known standards for refereeing. I think the players have caught up to the rules and its up to the NBA to stop playing favorites. Its actually disgusting and slowly eroding the game because without real rule, there is real chaos. If me, as a fan watching a game, cant tell what's a foul and what isnt, Im gonna turn the game off.... A game has to have rules we all can follow along with.

One thing that also has to be addressed is how players are just throwing themselves at the rim trying to get a foul and the refs are always give it to them.

A lot of these refs get off on calling shit plays. That’s the closest thing they’re going to get to influencing the course of the NBA with being player or having any real talent.

You know what's crazy. I'm a basketball fan through and through. I watched Rugby a few days ago and how they interacted with their refs, those guys are professionals. If you know basketball you know NBA players have a tendency to cuss out, b*tch and moan at the refs about almost every call. Im a brazilian guy (Sorry for my english btw) and I like to watch football/soccer, and the game official duration its 90 minutes, with halftime and stops it takes like 115 min on average to end, which is a lot for me too. But I get really mad when I watch a basketball game and sometimes (not rare) the game ends almost 3 hours after it started, thats crazy man, even being high possesion with lots of timeouts and breaks. Its a fuckin 48 min game that shit shouldnt take longer than 120 min lol

It’s the inconsistency for me. Lakers game, no call on Kuz for kicking out on a 3. Then a Wizard kicks his foot out it’s an offensive foul. And then in the same game, Russ gets called for a push off, and then within about 2 minutes, Bron pushes off, gets no call.

Challenges should be removed from the game. If they are kept, the only way I think they could speed them up would be as follows: they have a 4th official that looks over replays of questionable calls in real time before the challenge is even made, and this official makes the final decision without input from the officials on the floor.

There are many ways to improve officiating. F.e.: Holding refs accountable, a video referee for quicker reviews and a renewal of the officiating book

replay ref devoted to video calls. they have a shot clock amount of time to review the angles from the sideline (for everything questionable, threes, possession, etc.) especially during the final 5 minutes or so, they refer their informed decision to the on court refs and that is that

I love watching basketball but I don't sit through whole games anymore. It seems like every other play has a foul called and most are pretty bad calls (also too many dead ball ad breaks, but that's a different discussion). I don't want to watch a free throw contest. They need to: -disincentivize refs from blowing the whistle -end the whole jumping into the defender to draw a foul thing -stop biting on all these obvious flops (stop calling them and players stop flopping) -cap the time allowed for replays (eg a hard 30 second timer to change the original call or it stands as is).

To me, that offensive foul was a trade for that shooting foul that tied up the game. They wouldn’t give PG the foul when shooting that three, but give it to Kawhi when he didn’t even shoot the ball.

JJ's ejection and the terrible call against the clippers to lose the game were some of the worst officiating I've ever seen.

Petty Fouls should only be called if contact is made that significantly alters the shot, the play, impedes the player from driving, and the contact was not initiated by the player the foul is being called for. I’m sick of these phantom calls it’s as easy as that

Kawhi didn’t even push out he just lifted his elbow because Harden’s hands were all caught up in there and honestly could have been called a defensive foul. It frustrates me to think that if that play was Kawhi defending Harden on the other end and the same thing happened it probably would have been called a defensive foul.
